BIDEN ADMINISTRATION
đ Big Tech promises AI safeguards

The Rundown: Under pressure from the Biden Administration, major AI companies like Amazon, Google, and Microsoft committed to implementing safety standards in response to the growing concerns about AI.
Key points:
The commitment comes after concerns over potential threats AI technology poses, including OpenAI's ChatGPT investigation.
The companies will conduct internal and external security testing, share information on managing AI risks, invest in cybersecurity, and prioritize research on AI's societal risks.
The move aims to ensure responsible use and governance of AI amid the rapid development and rollout of the technology.
Why it matters: Thereâs been a lot of talk, too much talk, on the potential dangers of AI. Itâs great to see all the major tech players come together and pledge for AI safety.

MICROSOFT
đąÂ Bing Chat is coming to Chrome and Safari

The Rundown: Microsoft's Bing AI chatbot is currently being tested on Google Chrome and Safari browsers, expanding access beyond its initial availability on Edge.
Details:
Some limitations on Chrome and Safari include a 2,000-word prompt limit and conversation reset after only five turns (almost unusable).
Pop-ups prompt users to download Edge when using Bing Chat on Chrome.
Dark mode has been introduced for Bing Chat but not fully rolled out yet.
Why it matters: Enabling Bing AI on Chrome while enforcing limitations and popups to download their free browser to disable limitations is a classic power move by Microsoft.
Turns out itâs hard to get users to download Edge when everyone has been on default mode on Chrome for so long.
OPENAI
đŞÂ OpenAI CEO launches cryptocurrency

The Rundown: Open AI CEO Sam Altman just launched Worldcoin, a cryptocurrency aiming to create a globally-inclusive identity and financial network.
Details:
Worldcoin aims to create a global identity network with a unique digital identity for individuals known as a World ID.
The project aims to differentiate humans from AI and potentially lead to AI-funded universal basic income.
The project faces criticism for alleged deceptive practices in some countries and challenges in the global regulatory climate for cryptocurrencies.
The relevance: Although not directly AI-related, Worldcoinâs design caters to a world where AI and humans have significant interdependence. The Altman is everywhere.
