🤖 Anthropic's massive 100,000 context window

Ⓜ️ Meta unveils generative AI for advertisers

🤖 Anthropic Revolutionizes Claude AI
Anthropic, an AI research startup founded by former members of OpenAI, has made a significant breakthrough in text-generating AI. They've revolutionized Claude, their AI model, by expanding its context window from a mere 9,000 tokens to a whopping 100,000 tokens.
Does "The message you submitted was too long" ring a bell? Thanks to Claude's new expanded context window, that's quickly becoming a thing of the past. The modification enables Claude to analyze and interpret not just a few pages but hundreds.
To put it into perspective, the model could digest and analyze the entire text of “The Great Gatsby” in less than a minute. It's a game-changing leap forward, leaving OpenAI’s GPT-4 and its 32k context window (that’s currently in beta) in the dust.
How do you get Claude’s new upgrades? Well, as of now, Claude has only made this available to our business partners, and all you can do is request for API access on their website.
🦄 Stability AI’s Text-To-Animation Tool
Stability AI, a global front-runner in open-source artificial intelligence, unveiled a powerful text-to-animation tool called Stable Animation SDK.
This tool, intended for developers and artists, supports all Stable Diffusion models, including Stable Diffusion 2.0 and Stable Diffusion XL. Users can now generate animations from text, images, or video combined with text.
This tool will be a massive game-changer in the animation industry and for content creators.
Ⓜ️ Meta Unveils Generative AI For Advertisers
Meta just introduced the AI Sandbox, a playground for advertisers to try new generative AI-powered ad tools. The suit of the tools include:
Alternative text copy variations
Generating various backgrounds
Image cropping for Facebook and Instagram ads
These features empower brands to craft diverse ad copies tailored to different audiences, effortlessly generate unique assets for campaigns, and design visuals that fit various formats, from social posts to short videos.
Currently, Meta is working with a select group of advertisers to refine these tools based on their feedback. However, the tech giant plans to broaden access to more advertisers come July.
🚀 Airtable Joins The AI Frenzy
Airtable is breaking into the AI market with its new product, Airtable AI. This product aims to streamline the deployment of AI-powered applications for businesses, requiring no prior AI or coding knowledge.
With its broad range of functions, from managing marketing campaigns to planning product development, it integrates AI into various workflows. In addition, it includes customizable components and templates to suit different user needs.
Early access is available now, with a full launch in about three months. Airtable AI could be a game changer in revolutionizing the ease of AI integration in businesses.

Ⓜ️ Meta’s Open-Sourced Multisensory Model
Meta is back (again!) with yet another exciting open-source project. Introducing ImageBind, a new AI research model that understands and combines text, audio, visual, movement, thermal, AND depth data.
This integration of multiple data types unlocks new possibilities, including:
Multimodal search capabilities
Embedding-space arithmetic
Converting audio to image generation
Currently, ImageBind is an open-source experiment. However, it holds enormous promise for multimedia search, virtual reality, and robotics in the future. Meta continues to impress the community by open-sourcing these incredible models.
👩🏻🦰 Wendy’s AI Drive-Thru Chatbot
Wendy's is teaming up with Google to develop an AI chatbot that takes your drive-thru orders, aiming to reduce wait times and enhance customer experience.
The "Wendy's FreshAI" will be first tested in a Columbus, Ohio, restaurant in June. Google is customizing its large language model to understand specific Wendy's terminology, such as "Frosty" and "JBC."
Wendy’s says AI will not replace human workers (yet). Instead, employees will monitor the AI-powered drive-thru and assist customers as needed.
We will see how this one pans out. There will be a big challenge here for the chatbot to ignore background noises and customers who change their minds mid-order.
🤖 IBM Launches an AI Platform for Enterprises
At IBM's Think conference, the company unveiled Watsonx, a new AI platform designed to assist businesses in creating and utilizing AI models.
Despite stiff competition from other tech giants and startups, IBM claims that Watsonx stands out by offering pre-trained enterprise models at cost-effective infrastructure.
Following IBM's recent announcement to replace 7,800 jobs with AI and now the introduction of Watsonx, it's clear that the company is heavily investing in AI. The question remains: Can IBM keep pace with tech giants like Google, Meta, and Microsoft? Only time will tell.
🤯 Humane’s Wearable AI Device Demo
Humane, a secretive new tech startup, revealed a shocking wearable AI device designed to replace smartphones at a recent TED event in Vancouver.
Co-founder Imran Chaudhri demonstrated its features, including:
Projecting caller information onto his hand (yes, like a movie projector)
Suggesting nearby shopping options
Translating sentences Summing up emails and messages
Giving personalized dietary recommendations based on allergies
The device appears as a tiny black puck that slips into your breast pocket, takes over your phone's functions, and employs AI to update you on your day.
While undeniably cool, the demonstration sparks concerns about its practicality, privacy, and integration into everyday life. Chaudhri promises more information from Humane in the "next few months."

🤖 Elon Musk teases free Tesla FSD

🤖 Google’s I/O Event Anticipation
Google is attempting to make a comeback in the world of AI. This Wednesday, the company is set to reveal significant AI updates at its I/O event.
Here’s what’s being anticipated:
PaLM 2, a powerful LLM successor to PaLM 1, capable of handling over 100 languages
"Generative experiences for search and Bard," potentially infusing Google search with AI capabilities
AI-driven Workspace tools, including generative AI integration in Sheets, Slides, Meet, Gmail, and Docs
This is Google's moment in the spotlight, and millions will tune in to answer one burning question: Can Google make a comeback and reclaim its position as a leading contender in the AI race?
🚀 Palantir Stock Goes to The Moon
Palantir Technologies CEO Alex Karp announced that they anticipate turning a profit every quarter in 2023, fueled by the overwhelming interest in its new artificial intelligence platform. The result? Palantir stock (PLTR) soared over 20% in extended trading.
The Palantir Artificial Intelligence Platform (AIP) integrates AI into military decision-making, allowing military operators to utilize AI in their operations. The company is known for its contracts with the U.S. Central Intelligence Agency.
Karp commented, “The demand I've seen for our AIP platform is like NOTHING I've seen in the past 20 years." The rise of ChatGPT and LLMs has, without a doubt, been good for Palantir’s business.
🚗 Elon Musk Teases Tesla FSD Trial
Elon Musk recently hinted at offering a one-month free trial of Tesla's Full Self-Driving (FSD) for all cars in North America once the system is "super smooth (not just safe)."
Musk tweeted that Tesla plans to extend the trial globally after securing local regulatory approvals and ensuring seamless performance on all roads.
Despite the name, FSD does not actually provide full autonomy. The current software version manages some driving tasks on highways and city streets, but drivers must remain aware and ready to take control when needed.
By offering FSD to all North American Teslas for a month, Tesla can generate hype for the software, while simultaneously gathering driving data to improve itself. Love him or hate him, the man knows business.

🤖 Microsoft and AMD Challenge Nvidia
Microsoft is challenging Nvidia's dominant 80% market share in the AI processor market by teaming up with AMD on a project codenamed "Athena."
As reported by Bloomberg, Microsoft has dedicated several hundred employees and invested around $2 billion in Athena's development. The collaboration involves Microsoft providing engineering support to AMD while AMD assists Microsoft in developing its in-house AI chips.
Of note: Other tech giants like Google and Amazon have also developed in-house AI chips.
Microsoft's move sends a strong message, showing determination to not only be a major competitor in the AI frenzy but to dominate the entire market.
🔥 OpenAI’s New Text-to-3D Model
OpenAI is back with another massive project. They just released research and code for their new text-to-3D model, Shap-E.
Shap-E produces complex and diverse 3D assets quickly, converging faster and offering better sample quality than its predecessor, Point-E.
At the current state, it’s limited to single object prompts with simple attributes, resulting in pixelated and rougher outputs. However, with AI's sheer speed of development right now, text-to-3D printers might become a real thing very soon.
🧠 Warren Buffet’s Take on AI
At Berkshire Hathaway's annual meeting, Warren Buffett compared artificial intelligence to the creation of the atom bomb, voicing both concern and amazement over AI’s rapid advancement.
The billionaire said that his friend (some guy named Bill Gates) showed him ChatGPT and admitted the technology “Can do amazing things.“
Specifically, Buffet was impressed by the chatbot’s ability to check legal opinions. However, he also expressed his worries, quoting, “I know we won’t be able to un-invent it and, you know, we did invent, for very, very good reason, the atom bomb in World War II.”
These statements put Buffet in the camp of pro-AI-regulation, joining advocates of Elon Musk, Geoffery Hinton, and the US government. It’s clear AI regulation is needed, and world leaders are finally taking notice.

🤖 New AI research turns thoughts into video
In today's rundown:
🤖 Microsoft Bing gets powerful upgrades
🧠 AI can now decode brain signals into video
🏫 US and UK focus on AI regulation
🚨 Leaked internal Google document
Read time: 4 minutes
🤖 Microsoft Bing Gets Powerful Upgrades
Microsoft just dropped massive updates to Bing Chat, including image and video answers, plugins (similar to ChatGPT), chat history, and a better Edge integration.
To top things off- they removed the entire waitlist, meaning anyone with a Microsoft account can access all these features for free. You can access Bing Chat using Edge or download the mobile app on iOS or Android.
Microsoft continues to push relentless updates to maintain the lead in the AI race. Did Microsoft Edge actually just kill Google Chrome?
We’d love to hear your thoughts. Join the discussion by clicking the link below! (Please be kind to each other 🥹)
🧠 AI Can Now Decode Brain Signals Into Video
AI can officially read minds. In a groundbreaking research paper by Nature, researchers developed a new AI method called CEBRA that translates brain signals into video.
The study involved inputting data from a mouse’s brain and a video to predict movement. The results:
Over 95% accuracy in frame prediction.
Highly similar latent (hidden) variables across different types of neural data (Neuropixels and 2-photon data).
Differences in performance across the visual system of the mouse.
The potential future applications of this research are literally mind-boggling and could open up new frontiers in our understanding of the brain using AI technology.
Read the paper | View code | Visit the site
🏫 US and UK Focus on AI Regulation
The UK and US governments are taking action toward regulation in response to growing concerns over AI's impact on society, such as misinformation and job displacement.
The UK's Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) has just initiated a review of the AI sector. At the same time, the US government just had a meeting at The White House with the most important executives in AI, urging tech firms to ensure the safety of their products.
The rapid advancement of AI technology and its potential risks underscore world leaders' urgent need for timely and effective regulation.
🚨 Leaked Internal Google Document
An anonymously shared Google document has just been leaked on a public Discord server. The identity of the Google researcher who authored the document has been verified, but it’s worth noting that it represents their personal opinion rather than the entire company’s stance.
The document highlights the growing influence of open-source AI models, which the source believes are outpacing both Google and OpenAI in terms of innovation and capability. The document quotes: “Plainly put, they [open source] are lapping us.“
In essence, the document calls for a shift in strategy for Google to harness the potential of open-source AI innovations. Who would’ve thought that good-ol’ open source may be one of the biggest competitors to dethroning mega techs’ lead in the AI race.

🏫 White House Calls for AI Risks Meeting
The White House is scheduled to meet with top executives from Google, Microsoft, OpenAI, and Anthropic to address the risks of AI.
The powerhouse gathering will include Alphabet CEO Sundar Pichai, Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella, Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei, and OpenAI CEO Sam Altman, aiming for discussions about potential risks and ways to mitigate them.
This comes after several tech leaders signed an Open Letter calling for a halt on AI development beyond GPT-4. Geoffrey Hinton, known as the "Godfather of AI," also recently left Google to warn the world of the dangers ahead.
Developing a balanced regulatory approach that safeguards against potential harm while allowing society to benefit from AI's potential is crucial right now.
🧠 Deepmind CEO Says AGI is Possible in a Few Years
Demis Hassabis, CEO of Google-owned AI lab DeepMind, predicted that AGI could be within our grasp in just a few years.
At a recent Wall Street Journal conference, Hassabis stated he didn't "see any reason" for AI's progress to slow down. However, he stressed the importance of pursuing AGI "in a cautious manner using the scientific method," involving rigorous experiments and testing.
This underscores the significance of the upcoming White House meeting, where experts will discuss AGI's potential societal impacts and address crucial ethical concerns of AI technology.
🤖 Crypto.com Launches AI Chatbot ‘Amy’
Crypto.com, one of the world's largest cryptocurrency platforms, just introduced its AI chatbot, "Amy."
Amy is an AI user assistant based on ChatGPT built to inform users about the crypto industry, including real-time token prices, projects, and historical events. This move follows Binance’s recent crypto chatbot ‘Sensei.‘
Blockchain companies are working hard to integrate AI tech into making crypto more accessible and engaging for users of all levels.
💸 A New ChatGPT Plugin for Investing
Portfolio Pilot, the first verified ChatGPT plugin for investing, just got released. Supported by hedge fund models, the plugin is already accessible to those with plugin access.
In this short demo, creator Alexander Harmsen goes through its features, including ETF searching, company comparison, portfolio importing, portfolio assessments, portfolio analytics, next investment suggestions, security details, and stock search.
All, of course, are made possible through our beloved ChatGPT. Keep in mind that depending solely on a chatbot plugin for financial advice is probably not advisable (and could earn you the label 'degen').

🤯 NVIDIA’s Groundbreaking Graphics Research
NVIDIA is set to present around 20 research papers at SIGGRAPH 2023, showcasing groundbreaking new AI research aimed at helping developers and artists bring ideas to life.
The research papers range from AI models that turn text into images to inverse rendering tools that transform images into 3D. Read more about their research papers in their latest blog post.
The 5th paper presents an impressive demo, previewing NVIDIA's new AI-driven method that uses neural physics and AI to enable artists to create realistic hair for 3D characters in real-time. It seems advanced technology is putting an end to bad hair days.
🤖 Inflection AI Releases Pi
Inflection AI has just launched Pi, a ChatGPT-like competitor designed to be a kind and supportive companion assistant. Pi acts as a coach, confidante, creative partner, and sounding board.
Backed by $225 million in funding and founded by DeepMind and LinkedIn co-founders, expectations were high for this AI chatbot. However, early users are reporting the chatbot as underwhelming, with many calling it a "slower version of ChatGPT."
Give Pi a try for yourself, and share your thoughts by voting in the poll below.
📉 ChatGPT Claims Its First Victim
ChatGPT just cut Chegg in half. On Monday’s earnings call, the CEO mentioned that the chatbot is affecting subscriber growth, causing the stock to plummet nearly 50%.
The AI-fueled anxiety rippled through the education sector, with Pearson and Duolingo shares also dropping 15% and 10%, respectively.
To counteract this, Chegg has partnered with OpenAI to develop Cheggmate, while Duolingo launched an AI-powered subscription tier.
📵 Samsung Bans ChatGPT from Company Devices
Samsung has decided to temporarily ban the use of generative AI tools, such as ChatGPT, on company-owned devices and internal networks following an accidental leak of sensitive data last month.
The restriction will last until the company can establish secure measures to safely utilize AI for enhancing employee productivity.
Don’t freak out. The ban will not affect consumers or other Samsung device owners. Nonetheless, this leak is another example of why it’s worth using caution when using chatbots.
