The Rundown: OpenAI just hosted the company’s hotly anticipated DevDay event, unleashing a series of major announcements, including custom GPTs, GPT-4 Turbo, a GPT builder and store, and more.

Customizable GPT Builder:

• GPT Builder will allow anyone to customize and share their own custom AI assistants (GPTs) with natural language.

• You can add advanced custom instructions to your GPTs, including files, descriptions, actions, DALL-E 3 profiles, and more.

• Alongside GPT Builder, they’re launching a GPT Store, allowing regular people to make money by selling their newly built GPTs.

• GPT Builder is rolling out now to ChatGPT Plus and Enterprise users.

GPT-4 Turbo:

• GPT-4 Turbo is OpenAI’s new model with an upgraded 128K context window that allows it to read prompts as long as a 300-page book.

• The model also has improved performance, an updated knowledge window to April 2023, and is 3x cheaper for developers.

Additional updates:

• Brand new APIs for developers to build apps using Vision, text-to-speech, and DALL-E 3 with slashed developer costs.

• A new Assistants API helps build customizable goal-driven AI apps, with fine-tuning expanded to GPT-4 and custom models available.

• OpenAI’s new ‘Copyright Shield’ will pay the costs incurred, if you face legal claims around copyright infringement while building with tools.

• We also discovered ChatGPT’s newly (unannounced) "Builder Profile" which allows anyone to create a profile for the upcoming GPT Builder marketplace. Check out our early access findings here.

🚀 xAI unveils PromptIDE for AI development

The Rundown: Elon Musk's xAI continued to ship new AI upgrades following its Grok release, now launching PromptIDE — an integrated development environment for building prompts and analyzing AI model outputs.

The details:

• PromptIDE gives transparent access to the Grok-1 model through a Python SDK, allowing for complex prompting techniques and visualization of model outputs.

• Features include a code editor, analytics like token probabilities, uploaded file support, and sharing of prompts.

• PromptIDE is currently available to members of xAI's early access program.

The relevance: xAI is moving fast — with the training time of their new ChatGPT competitor, Grok of just 2 months. If this insane pace of development is maintained, it could quickly make xAI a household name in the AI race. We’ve got our fingers crossed that more users can get access soon and try it out.
